7 Practices to up-level your Life in 2020

It is a good time of the year to make decisions on the changes to make in your life (maybe you even said to yourself and others several times ….” I’ll start in January”) Now January is here.

But first, what does it mean to Up-level, the urban dictionary defines it as ….Inspired strategic action creating greater capabilities. Simply meaning moving up to a higher place from where you once were.

The truth is one cannot up-level their life, if they are doing the same things they did before, ‘what got you here, won’t get you there’. There is going to be some discomforts experienced, some stretching, new habits formed and getting out of the comfort zone.

The reality of life is that we all desire to live a fulfilled life; at work, personal life, spiritually, relationships, health & fitness. When we begin to act with more intention, a foundation is formed to create new habits that will propel us to make changes that we desire in the different aspects of our lives instead of just wishing for them.

You have the power to design your life in a way that you desire. The key is to be committed to your idea and take action to achieve it. There is no point in making a plan you’re not going to stick to.

There are countless ways you can be more intentional and change your life, here are some of the things to consider focusing on, I picked on these based on my own personal experience.

I have practised the things am sharing below, I must confess, not as consistently as I’d have wished, I found when being consistent, my creative juices flow, energy is high and productivity is super, however when I get distracted the opposite is true, I get overwhelmed don’t get much done.

So here we go now;

  • Vision

Create and write down what you would like to achieve, your vision for the future. You need to know where you want to go, so you can get the means to get there.

Get clear and set goals for yourself that align with your vision.

Revisit your vision, so that you are reminded of your intentions.

  • Values & Habits

It is important as you commit to up-level your life to identify your top five values and what they mean to you. Once you know your values, commit to activities, experiences, and people that uphold your values. Keep your values written in a visible place where you are reminded of them daily.

Commit to habits that align with your values and vision. One powerful habit is the developing a morning routine that nourishes your mind, body and soul. The way you start your day can make or break the rest of your day. I highly recommend the book The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod. This book changed my life and helped develop a morning routine that changed my life. (I talk about this in another blog)

  • Actions & Decisions

To move forward with your Vision, you will need to plan action steps that align with your goal and map out your daily and weekly workflows. The key to achieving your plan is to focus on sticking to the plans that you have set for yourself.

Set daily intentions that encourage you to keep showing up in your life

Decisions have to be made in 2020 to make progress to up-level, make choices that align with your values and priorities. Listen to your inner guide when making decisions.

In taking action, get out of your own head and take imperfect action, avoid overthinking which will lead you to procrastinate.

Always remember….’ done is better than Perfect’

  • Mindset

Mindset is generally your frame of mind and how you move through the world in reaction to your beliefs.

Your mindset can have a perspective that helps you grow and transform. Or it can be a mindset that holds you back and makes you feel limited in your ability to achieve challenging goals. Mindset will cause you to make unhealthy choices or see yourself as a failure. Or it can help you feel more patience and gentleness toward yourself, as well as celebrate your successes.

The first step to finding success in your life is to master your thinking. Most people are not held back by their true abilities, but by their thoughts. When you master your mindset, you can fight back fear, take action and achieve your dream. Improve the way you talk to yourself and expand what you believe is possible for yourself.

  • Movement

This includes exercise, of course. But it also includes flexibility movement like stretching and yoga, a mindful movement like tai chi, and ecstatic movement like dancing. How do you move your body? Is your body fit and how do you care for it through exercise? How does your body move through space?

Movement of the body does help you lose weight, and is a great boon to health – but it also boosts circulation, strengthens the heart, improves digestion, and moves the lymphatic system to ultimately bolster immunity. Having a routine that includes activity (and a bit of sweating, too) greatly supports the body’s natural processes of elimination, whether through the digestive system or lymphatics.

Find an exercise or movement exercise that you enjoy, don’t be afraid to open yourself up and try something new.

  • Hydration

Water is an incredibly important part of your wellness routine and something to consider when improving your overall health. It is known to be the best and the most natural hydrating liquid. It promotes cardiovascular health, keeps muscles and joints working, and helps cleanse toxins from your body. Staying hydrated also helps balance your blood sugar, helps relieve headaches, and promotes healthy skin.

Pay attention to when you feel thirsty, it may be disguised as hunger or a sugar craving.

  • Nourishment with Whole Foods

To achieve your goals and up-level your life in 2020, the body needs to be nourished with high-quality foods. These are whole foods that are as close to nature as possible avoiding refined foods, drinks and sugar. Add in fruits and green leafy vegetables in your diet for more energy.

Use your own body as a laboratory to understand which foods work for you and experiment by making a variety of fresh foods with herbs to enhance taste and get more benefits in your body. Plan your meals and Carry your own snacks and fruits to maintain food quality.
